The City of Waterloo has received notification from our water supplier, Illinois American Water, that on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 the East St. Louis and Granite City systems will be temporarily changing the disinfectant used in the water as they always do this time of year. Instead of using chloramines, they will be using free chlorine. They will notify us again just prior to the switch and when they go back to chloramines in approximately four to five weeks after the switch has occurred. While on free chlorine, they also conduct their annual distribution system flushing program.
