Our historic downtown area is centered around the Monroe County Courthouse. Many businesses have set up shop in these buildings and are thriving. You can find several unique shopping opportunities, delicious dining and drink options (including two microbreweries and a wine bar), a 100 year old family operated pharmacy and many other businesses all within this three block area.
Through the years, we've added to the historic charm by installing brick crosswalks, overhead white lights that are changed to multi-colored lights during the Christmas season, a four-faced street clock, wrought iron street signs. You will also find a self-guided walking tour of the history of the downtown buildings and several beautiful murals.
